Design Concept
The design begins with a concrete box measuring 100 square meters, divided into a grid of 100 squares, each measuring 1 meter by 1 meter. This grid is then adapted into a rectangle to reflect the linear form of the Gaza Strip map from 2014. After overlaying the map onto the grid, the total area of the rectangular plan becomes 63 square meters, with the surrounding landscape covering 313.2 square meters.
The landscape design draws inspiration from a recorded sound of bombing near my home. This recording was transformed into a visual representation using bar visualization, which influenced the layout and structure of the surrounding area.
The main layout of the built area is informed by the locations of damaged sites during the 2014 war. These points were identified using satellite imagery showing the density of destruction across Gaza. To achieve greater precision in representing these areas, the plan was subdivided into a finer grid of small triangles, ensuring an accurate depiction of the damaged locations.
